Itahari: A corruption case has been filed against the then Deputy Chief of Biratnagar Metropolitan City of Morang, Indira Karki, Chief Administrative Officer Ekdev Adhikari, Engineer, Ward Chairperson and Chairman of the Consumers Committee.
The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case against them in a special court on Friday. CIAA has filed a chargesheet against them in a special court, demanding the refund of the misused amount and the compansation similar to that amount.
According to CIAA, the accused include Deputy Chief Karki, then Chief Administrative Officer, Chief Engineer of Urban Development Division Gopal Pokhrel, Engineer Pushpak Pradhan and Deputy-Engineer Iftekhar Alam. The authority has demanded the then administrative officer Pokharel, Pradhan and Alam to collect Rs. 1,055,979.
Similarly, Baldev Sahu Sudi, chairperson of the park construction consumer committee, Dinanath Acharya, secretary and Kalpana Ghimire, treasurer have also been charged with corruption in the pond.
Chairman of the Consumers' Committee Sudi, Secretary Acharya and Treasurer Ghimire have been demanded to collect Rs. 1,055,979. The authorities claim that the accused have caused a loss of Rs. 1,055,979. Karki, the then deputy chief of the city and Alam, the then ward chairman of Biratnagar Metropolitan City 15, said that the work of filling the soil should be done by workers. According to the authorities, the case has been filed with a demand to collect the sum of the misused amount and and fine of the same amount.
