Itahari: Sunsari-based Itahari resident lyricist Pooja Maria has been honored with the eighth National Capital Award.
Madhav Nirdosh, chairman of the award distribution committee, said that the award was given to him as the best lyricist of national sentiment for a song written by lyricist Maria. According to him, national singers Sumit Khadka and Tika Bhandari handed over the award to him. Senior musician Shambhujit Baskota and special guest singer Bhairav Risal were the chief guests at the award distribution ceremony held in Kathmandu.
Senior musician Shambhujit Baskota was given the Lifetime Achievement Award on the occasion of the award ceremony. Similarly, Manohar Sunam was honored as the musician of the decade.
Journalist Sanukaji Shrestha was awarded the Silver Journalism Award while MP Subba was awarded the National Journalism Award. Similarly, singer Amrit Khati and singer Sita KC were awarded the National Youth Talent Award. Singer Durga Kharel and singer Raj Kumar Singh were declared the best singers. Singer Kharel won the award for best singer for her song Nathiya while singer Singh won the award for best song. Musician Arjun Pokhrel won the Popular Musician of the Year award from the Nathiya song.
