Gangtok: Minister for Power MN Sherpa chaired a coordination meeting with the Rangit Hydro Electric Power Project under National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), at his official chamber at Tashiling Secretariat, this afternoon.
The meeting had the special presence of the Minister-cum-Area MLA of Gyalshing Bermiok constituency Lok Nath Sharma and MLA Barfung constituency, Tashi Thendup Bhutia and the newly constituted Management and Coordination Committee of Rangit Hydro Electric Power Project.
Minister Power M.N. Sherpa stressed upon exchange of cooperation and proper coordination between the newly formed committee and the authority of Rangit Hydro Electric Power Project. He extended his best wishes for smooth conduct of business at all levels, so as to benefit both the State and the Union Government. He came out with invaluable suggestions to meet up the framed objectives behind the formation of the Management and Coordination Committee.
Minister Lok Nath Sharma advised to constitute a Disciplinary Committee to ensure work delivery of assigned responsibilities, with utmost sincerity. There should be unanimous consensus within the Committee in awarding contract works and the higher authority will recommend the same for onward action, he advised.
The meeting had thorough discussion for preparing proper working mechanisms so as to ensure smooth execution of contract works with complete transparency and accountability.
General Manager, NHPC, threw light on the guidelines and the required criteria for eligibility in pursuing Contract Works and Employment. He underlined mandatory requirements of Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Registration, and the registration under GST, ESI, MSME as necessary requirements to meet up the required eligibility of Contract works. Additionally, he informed on the provision of work experience and financial turnover as the significant factor for the same.
MLA, Barfung Constituency Tashi Thendup Bhutia also placed his views and suggestions.
