Gandaki, Oct 31: United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who is presently on a four-day official visit to Nepal, beginning on Sunday, has called on the international community to express much solidarity to the efforts to make the world resilient to climate change impact.

In his brief talk to the media at Pokhara after observing the Annapurna Base Camp today, the UN Secretary-General said, "I visit exactly to send a clear message to the world it is essential to stop this war against nature, it is essential to stop this looting and generating climate change."

"It is essential to preserve these wonderful mountains and these wonderful nations," he said.

As he viewed, Nepal-like countries do not contribute to climate change but suffer the consequences and there are so many landslides, so many disasters and so many communities have been deeply impacted negatively by climate change. He underlined the need for international support and funding to such nations suffering the consequences of climate change.  (RSS)
